The Testaments – the 2019 sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, which was first published in 1985 – is also partly set in Gilead, fifteen years later.
The Handmaid's Tale Wiki describes Gilead as "the totalitarian patriarchal theocracy that rules over most of the territory that belonged to the former continental United States".
